Project Plan
Project Need
Our group understood the importance of health and wellness and wanted to make sure we educated our school community. After discussing issues with girls in the school, we discovered that education around dental, menstrual, and mental hygiene and health was needed. We observed the need for an event to educate on this was needed and decided to throw a healthy girls workshop on campus.
Process
Throughout the school year, we met weekly to discuss our Healthy Girls workshop. We identified 4 moderators who lead the discussion on dental hygiene, menstrual health, and self-care. We also ordered health and wellness items for participants in the group. We sent out invitations two weeks before the event and made sure to package our items the day before. We were able to bring in dental students from the larger La community to help with this event
Impact Report
The long term outcomes to the school community is for Mann UCLA BSAP Team provide and serve the BSAP Girls Rock Group throughout the school year. The girls group will lessen girl conflict and increase positive resolutions with staff guidance. Also, the long term outcomes will increase academic grades throughout the school year with mentorship and a yearly event to support the girls with healthy hygiene habits. Lastly, the long-term outcomes is to promote college bound girl students with an opportunity to explore career options for their future.
